Sharing sustainability goals @ the
The star attraction at the launch of Masuga, the sweet paper from Sappi, distributed exclusively by Antalis South Africa was well known, successful television cook, published author and Woolworth’s ambassador Justin Bonello.
The mouth-watering food and impressive event saw Justin give a cooking demonstration that expressed Masuga's branding as 'Sappi's sweet paper' whilst highlighting the analogies between food preparation and paper production with perfect results determined by the best ingredients and a foolproof 'cooking method.
Sappi, following a request by Woolworths for a smooth, uncoated and environmental paper that could be used specifically for their 2010 Annual Report and Sustainability Report, developed Masuga. The paper is produced from 90% sugar cane waste (bagasse) and 10% wood fibre, as certified by FSC™ (Forest Stewardship Council) plus the paper is unbleached and therefore totally chlorine free.
With a growing number of end users demanding environmentally friendly paper products Masuga confirms Sappi and Antalis' commitment to providing a suitable paper grade made from alternative fibres.
Antalis was chosen by Sappi to be the sole distributor of this 'sweet-paper' because they believed that, amongst other prerequisites, Antalis and Sappi share sustainability goals. Production of Masuga is both protecting the environment as well as empowering communities.
Marketing Manager Caroline Coughlan expanded on Antalis’ support for this paper when she commented: “Antalis has a focused environmental strategy. In August 2010 we achieved FSC certification and Masuga will simply extend our commitment to sustainability. It complements our extensive Fine Papers Collection and fits in with our strategy of extending alternate fibre paper options as the local quality with value brand. Pieces designed and printed on Masuga qualify to be entered into our prestigious biennial Art of Design 2012 and will form part of our national prestigious sampling footprint.
